It was a beautiful Saturday morning, the sun was shining with not a cloud to be seen. I woke up full of anticipation and excitement as I was travelling to Perth to compete in my first state golf amateur event in MONTHS.
As i arrived at the airport, adrenaline was pumping through my veins as my "gap year life" was about to improve oh so significantly.Throughout the flight, I sat in my seat with a smirkish grin on my face.
As i exited the flight and walked out of Perth's airport, all the happiness and excitement had bundled up into a great big ball. I stood at the loading zone for half an hour not knowing if my friend had remembered to pick me up. As I was waiting, a black honda CRV with a darkish tint had pulled up in front of me. The window rolled down and I was greeted by a beautiful grinning smirk of my friend Angie who i was going to spend a couple days with. She apologized with that beautiful smile she wore so ever well while helping me to lug my massive golf bag into the boot of the car.
On the way back to hers, we shared stories and caught up as we haven't seen each other for more than a year. Oh how time passes by....
As we arrived at hers, we were greeted by a barrage of barks from her families little dog named Lulu.As we grabbed my bags out of the car and lugged it into the house, we met her mum YuLi (who was once a famous badminton player who represented China in the Olympics). We shared pleasantries and went on our merry way to what was to be my bedroom for the next three nights to drop me bags off. Angie and I eventually continued talking till late at night, reminiscing about our past and some of the good moments we shared until we eventually fell asleep.
Morning arrived, the anticipation and excitement that had subsided during the calming and pleasant sleep had found its way back into my mind. As today, was the day i was playing my practice round at Royal Fremantle. Me and Angie had set off early in the morning to the course on what would be an occasion that I would not ever forget. This is because my playing partner Angie and I had made a bet, the loser having to pay for lunch. I walked in this bet with confidence oozing out of every part of my body because Angie hadn't been playing golf regularly. To my amazement and to hers, I lost because she had shot the round of her life. Crushing my hopes and dreams of a mouth watering free meal awaiting me.
The days went on, the chit chatting continued and so did the reminder of her once in a lifetime round. Until the day that I had to move over to another friends place who lived closer to the venue of the golf tournament. This friend was named Tia and a new part of the story was about to begin with the competition day drawing ever so much closer.
